Uppsala
If you don’t mind a town full of students, Uppsala is a picturesque city just 40 minutes on the train from Stockholm. Amongst the cobble streets and the little river, it doesn’t take much searching to find Scandinavia’s tallest cathedral and the ‘slottet’ – a huge pink castle on top of a hill. If history is your thing, be sure to take in Gamla Uppsala – the sacred burial mounds of ancient Swedish kings.
